The idea of making others more happy with a gift. It's almost like you're being forced to buy, so it lets you off the hook that it's propitiation. You're doing it because you might hurt the feelings of others if you didn't get them something. But of course everyone ignores the maxim that its the thought that counts and not the present. If you get a $1 pen, how would you feel?

I didn't do any shopping this year at all. My relatives came to visit me in FL and we all went to Disney World and had some fun.
