Now, I'm not going to rant about what is or isn't punk, but GREEN DAY? Are you serious? Kids these days...
That being said, Gallows are ****** amazing.

It depends on "current" and your opinion of "punk", but here's a list made fomr my Windows Media Player. Lol :
Afi, Anti-Flag, At The Drive In, Bad Religion, The Beatsteaks, THE BRIEFS, Cock Sparrer, Flogging Molly, The Frisk, Gogol Bordello, Horrorpops, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Misfits, The Phenomenauts, Bouncing Souls, The Unseen, Youth Brigade, Pistol Grip, One Man Army, NOFX, Forgotten, Ceremony, Filthy Thievin' Bastards, Rancid, Set It Straight, Tiger Army, Transplants, Tsunami Bomb, U.S. Bombs, The Distillers, Leftover Crack, Swingin' Utters, Varukers, Lagwagon, Bracket.....
Some of those bands have been around awhile, some are older....
As for my opinion of the best "current punk", as in made within the last few years, I'd say The Briefs. They're really awesome live. Their music is killer.

The Starting Line!! I just got their new album "Direction" and thought i'll probably listen to a song or two but i've come to like all the songs on that album. They're a really good pop/punk/ rock band.

The only band I can think of is Anti-Flag off the top of my head. I've always considered them a great punk rock band for years.

As far as relatively new bands go, these are my picks.
Gallows
Authority Zero
Rancid
Tiger Army
Riverboat Gamblers
Horrorpops
I would have also gone with Tsunami Bomb and The Distillers except that both bands are now broken up.
