I don't really know where. He died approximately 1978. I was wondering to track his records because I have never met him. I wanted some information about him. My parents were married but then divorced when we were babies and he never visited us for whatever reason. There were a lot of family politics, I don't know the whole story. I have his name and I think his right birthdate and his mother's first name. Could someone tell me where I could start to look into his records.

I thought there might be some retired airforce folk that would know the process or anyone with any ideas.

Thank you

You could try contacting the Department of National Defense (DND) at the National Defense Headquarters (NDHQ) in Ottawa. They probably wont be able to give you a lot of personal information, but they might be able to give you some info on where he was and when. I have been out of the Canadian Air Force for about 15 years so I'm no longer sure of their policy concerning the release of past records. All the best and Merry Christmas.

DaisyDuc, I would love to know about my Dad too. He was stationed in Eritrea. I know absolutely nothing about his RAF life other than he was in a Band and because they didn't know how to play Stars and Stripes, they rushed outside, into the grounds of the Palace and practiced the tune amongst the palm trees.

There are forums on the internet for retired armed forces personnel. Was he in Cold Lake? Lancaster Park? I dont know if either of these links will help you but its a start -

You cannot access his military records; however you can do a people search through Yahoo or other sites. You can also do a search through the US Census records.

I belong to militarybrats.com and they may have suggestions also.
