Can I please suggest that you save a lot of effort and get a suitable garden shed. All sorts of styles and sizes are available. You can prettify it for him if you like, or just spray the outside with ranch gloss. It will stay dry, provide ventilation to avoid rot, and afford him a peaceful and protective space. It'll be cheaper and nicer

Marine grade plywood is all I would use as far as plywood is concerned. Forget the treated wood, in any way shape or form ingestion will be harmful. I would suggest using cedar on the exterior and milk board on interior. Frame with 2x4 material and insulate if it gets below 0 where you live. A Great Pyranees can take cold temperatures, albeit, supply your family member with adequate housing that ensures a healthy dose of cold and hot weather comfort. The price for materials of said building should run in the region of 125.00.

Plywood with 2x4 framing will work well. Or you can use straight plywood if you buy thick enough plywood. You will have to seal it against moisture and keep it sealed to repel water. A good coat of paint should provide that.
Or for less than the price of the plywood, you can buy a plastic dog house that looks like an igloo at most major pet stores and farm co-op stores.

Plywood is the easiest to work with. and it is together quick. But you need to shingle the roof otherwize it will not stand up to the rain and snow for more than 1 winter. Make it big enough too. At least 1/2" ply.

You need an exterior plywood, or something like red wood, or white oak, which are expensive. Whatever you use, make sure you seal it with a weather proof coating...an exterior paint or varnish, and re-coat it every year. Built is a little ways off of the ground so it doesn't sit in water. Put in some old carpet, or straw for warmth , and a cozy bed. Don't make it too big either.

I make dog houses for my huskies from 5/8" advantech. it looks like OSB chipboard but it is made with a different glue. It won't swell like osb or delaminate like plywood. Some of my dog houses are 12 years old and still in good shape. This is with no paint or roofing to protect them from the weather. For framing I use cedar 2x4s for rot resistance. Pressure treated is rot resistant but some dogs chew their houses. For my huskies the house is basically a box 24 inches tall, 24 inches wide and 30 inches deep with a 10x15 opening in one end. They stand on legs eight inches off the ground. I can make one from one 4x8 sheet of adventech and three 2x4s. You may want to build one a little bigger for a pyrenees. face it away from the prevailing winds and line the floor with straw in the winter and he should be happy and warm. Don't put a flap over the door. Moisture from his breath needs to escape or the inside will be wet and prone to mildew.

Try sheet ply wood and not the crappy warping partical kind, treat it with some sort of sealer. I wouldn't worry too much about chemicals unless your puppy is a chew whore and eats everything. Otherwise some types of pine and oak are pretty inexpensive, if you want a house that is going to last a long time look for cheaper woods of those kind and make sure you put kind of sealer on the roof either way to prevent leaks. I wouldn't reccomend leaving your dog in his dog house while it's raining either way though.

Hi,
Use a timber such as Teak or Mahogany for outside construction.
Teak is hard to come by but Mahogany is not to bad.
You can build from standard softwood from a builders yard as long as it is well protected.
Put roofing felt on the top and something like Ronseal Exterior Woodstain, the 5 year version on the outside and inside.
Make sure you let it air well for a few days before you let the dogs use it.
I'd also suggest putting a couple of battens underneath to avoid trapping the rain under the base, again well protected with Ronseal.
