I like pet rats just fine.
It's the nasty wild roof rats that are not my favorite. They get into our attic, make a mess and tear things up.
Rats historically are associated with disease and biting children, so they don't have a good reputation. But again, that's not domestic rats.

Well i love animals and i think they are all cute. Rats have such a cute little face and are very nice. People think they are gross because where they some from is the sewer or water or rat holes. Number 2 is that they tend to squeal at night and scare people and number 3 they feel weird tickle feeling when they tough you. But people think they feel weird like snakes people think they are slimey no they have a nice gentle soft scales. There are many reasons but i do not understand them because rats are so cute!!

I used to have 4 beautiful and extremely sweet pet rats! They were very attached to me and each other. People teased me for having rats, but I ignored them. Moat and many people hate and despise rats because the wild ones go through their garbage, their clothing, food, furniture, cars, and rooms. Most and about 99% of elder women and men hate rats and chase them with a broom or call animal control. Many more ask why people buy rats even though they have plenty to look for and set out traps for. One simple answer Rats are just like humans, sure they have small feet, small slender bodies and long tails, but they still have hearts to love people with. Wild rats arent a harm they are just hungry, cold, and thirsty rodents trying to find a safe place for cover. Rats are smart sweet, and i still to this day dont get why people hate them.

Lots of ppl associate rats with garbage, sewers or the Black Plague & don't recognize domestic rats as the smart, affectionate animals that they really are. Nearly every rat I've ever met has been incredibly sweet.
Some ppl also have a problem with their tails, oddly enough. Sure, I had to get *used* to their tails but now I love how our rats give us "tail-hugs" & use them for balance too. Rat tails used to remind me of worms but now I think of them more as satin cords.

Pet rats are different from street rats. Wild rodents usually carry disease and can be quite destructive.

Probably because most rats that people encounter were pest. It has always been a natural reaction because we often see them as a vector for diseases or as a theft of our food. But they are cute sometimes.

I think pet rats are cute, but people generally dismiss rats as nasty because they carry so much bacteria and diseases.

because most ppl think of nasty trash eating disease carrying the size of a cat-rat. Not cute pet ones.

Well it depends they sometimes carry deseases and rabies and ewww but i mean there are hamsters and mice those are okay but rats are nasty especially sewer rats
