For the person that said our intelligence was gathered by our allies, you need to get your facts straight. We had our own intelligence, that's why there is controversy as to wether the administration knew it was incorrect.

I'm not bashing..just observing that we are becoming a laughing stock globally speaking and its small wonder.....When you place someone in charge of the military who is both arrogant and ignorant what do you expect? Talks internationally are the key to good global citizenship, but not for this clown. Our media is largely owned by three large companies who cringe at the thought of anything other than republican philosophy....big business/special interests forever.

The the three biggest factors that are keeping Europe out of even Afganistan are poverty, socialism and their deby policy. Countries that are in the EU must be debt free. Which brings up the fact that even though Europe has high taxes, it's going into social projects such as socialized medicine and welfare. They need all that money because they are poor. Even though Europe has about the same land mass and population of the U.S., they have high unemployment and low incomes. Economically it's like livng in Mississippi or West Virginia which are a couple of the U.S.'s poorest states. The real reason Europe has long vacation times is because they would rather have several part time workers than fewer full time workers. This technically cuts down on unemployment, which is still higher than the U.S. and even Mexico. Britian's navy was once the largest in the world. Now it's smaller than Norways. During Gulf War 1, France needed U.S. assistance to get its military to Saudia Arabia. Poland sent a couple thousand guys to Iraq while some cities in the U.S. have larger police forces than that. In short, Europe once was a powerhouse and now it has trouble leaving it's continent for extended periods.

As far as Australia goes, they are not very populated and have instead invested more in Afganistan which is short on foreign troops and much closer. Even Britian will probably send the troops it had in Iraq to Afganistan.

Are you not paying attention? It's winding down over there. THE SURGE IS WORKING!!

The Brits were able to turn their territory officially over to the Iraqis just a short time ago.

What kind of a friend would we be to our allies if we did not plan to be the last ones out?

And for the record (since YOU are bashing), President Bush did not lie. That's such a tired, worn out argument. The intel, much of which was gathered from those same allies, was faulty. Deal with it.

Our Congress is also considering pulling several thousand troops there and sending them to Afghanistan instead. Looks like they arent needed now that Iraqi cheftans are finally stepping up. Check out your local news. Troops that were not supposed to be home until March are all of a sudden showing up in time for Christmas. Many of the Cavalry recently came home early.

I cannot speak for other countries but Britain are not leaving Iraq. Yes we have handed over power in Basra but not all British troops are coming home. I do not agree with this entirely as those British troops did not sacrifice their own lives for Britain to throw the towel in.

I saw this somewhere on tv the other night. They are really smart to do so in my opinion.
