Of course I have a answer to my own Q, but am interested to see what yours is- esp if it is thoughtfully expressed w/ a reason or two. (The last bit is a friendly hint--since this is the philosophy category)

And a psychology category.(Same Q asked there)-pls do not answer in both categories.

I repeat for those who aren't following me: "thoughtfully expressed w/ a reason or two. (The last bit is a friendly hint--since this is the philosophy category)!"

"It depends" Everything depends. Please A the Q w/o that phrase! It is trite and it is a dodge!

Asking Q's was a good guess, but not my primary intellectual goal. I will reveal that intellectual goal when I pick the BA to my Q. Your goal is a good and admirable one and it is among my many secondary daily goals.

As you know, if I were to be forced to categorize my philosophical position...I would reluctantly admit to being a Straussian. Yet it goes beyond that, to the heart of my essence.
As such, every morning is a new dawn intellectually. I look forward to absorbing every bit of news I can in order to glean some bit of the philosophical influence which has touched our lives. The magnitude of this influence goes largely unnoticed by the rank and file. Yet, it is the most critical aspect (in a long-term sense) affecting the future of mankind.

I am a watcher. Myself, and the other Straussians (such as Francis Fukuyama) monitor how the greatest thinkers in history have influenced...and continue to influence...the very core of our existence.

footnote:
Unfortunately, Strauss has been hijacked by the Bush administration, which has much to answer for in its irresponsible conduct as a result of slavishly being philosophically influenced by Machiavelli (Through a Lockean/Heidegerrian conduit). I mention this only as a footnote in defence of Strauss.

ADDITION:
Actually, this has given me an idea for a question to ask myself, but it will be in the politics section. This is good, as I've found it difficult to ask as much as I have answered.

Learning something new. Other than good food and music, it is the one thing I can count on having every day. Ideas never let you down, and there is a constant supply of new ones. I've tried to pare down my life. I collect new words on note cards and the NYT's Tuesday Science Times(for rereading). I read and try to learn how to do something new(currently how to play bridge well).
I would guess from your self-description and prodigious question count that your quotidian delight is thinking up intellectually stimulating questions!

Laughing, of course. At the absurdity of my life's endeavor. At the surprise of reasoned discourse from an unexpected source. At the whimsical way in which fate moves the world around me. At the haunting beauty of a new-born's cry, if I'm lucky. At the scents and sights that surround and fill me to such an extent that I am forced to accept the reality of my own existence and then relish that knowledge. To laugh is to rejoice in the awakening

I look forward to being alive, and my daily hikes through the forest outside my small town. I like going up to this small, unknown sequoia grove, and watching the forest valley below before getting out a nice book and relaxing against a tree.

I look forward to writing. Sometimes it's fairly intellectual.

It depends, often a constructive criticism is well appreciated, particularly if it has to do with work or a subject of great difficulty.
