I believe the cubs may be interested in Erick Bardad the ace out of baltimore. And this is what they have done so far..
12/19/07 Signed OF Kosuke Fukudome to a four-year contract.
12/13/07 Signed LHP Neal Cotts to a one-year contract.

Fukudome has great stats in Japan. His BA has always hovered at 300 but i what i am a little bit scared over his OBP espically if he hits ahead of Lee and Ramirez he has been around .380 but now he is going to facing much superior pitching and i don think he will be able to replicate those numbers in the bigs his first year. A for a Tso i hope we do sign him he plays well in the outfield he has a below average arm but he is a solid bench player.

Look for the cubs to get a little extra help in the pen we always need depth in the bull pen.

As far as a strarting pitching dont look for much of anything there. Z, Lilly, hill are obvouis and there will be heavy competition for 4 or 5 slots between several different pitchers inluding Marquis, Marmol, Mateo, Marshall, Gallahger, Guzman maybe a few others but those arae the main competors for those spots. Gallahger is a stretch he has to perform like never before to win that spot. He will most likely be back in AAA iowa or AA peoria

Fukudome was a big sign. the winter meetings are over, so things will slow down for another month or so. i started a group on yahoo, if you want to talk Cubs baseball all year

i didn't do any "looking" for fans last year but, i'm looking for some Cubs fans that to talk Cubs baseball with. this is free to join, i'm not selling anything. just looking for Cubs fans, wanting to talk, share pics, share stories etc

if interested send an e-mail to.....
cubs_nation-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

please no spam in the group, just Cubs baseball. i will remove people who start posting dating links, sex sites etc.

Baltimore is supposedly having a fire sale, and there were reports that the Cubs were interested in looking at either Brian Roberts for second base (who was named in The Mitchell Report) and Erik Bedard, LHP.

Probably have to pay with top prospects, though, so does that mean Felix Pie is trade bait?

The Cubs are pretty much set and can sit back and listen to any offers. They have to be the favorites to win the division and are pretty solid, though the front office may take a look at Cleveland - who has seven starters, and one or two to deal - since starting pitching is always something that's needed on clubs.

I haven't heard too much about the Cubs since the signing of Fukudome. I think the Cubs have potential to do well this upcoming season if they do something about their pitching problems.

I heard the Cubs are looking to sign So Taguchi since they signed Fokudome.

we got a new Outfielder, Fukudome, and really last year they lock up a good part of the core team. we need a few bullpen and another starter
