For a generation now, Republicans talk about smaller government and cutting taxes, while, actually, increasing the size of government, and, cutting taxes at the margin, without, cutting spending, creating amazingly large federal deficits.

Here is a man that truly is conservative, so, why doesn't he have more support indicated by the polls?

First of all, conservatives they know that if they were honest about their goals, they would lose in all the elections in a landslide, so conservatives always back a candidate who tells the people what the repub party thinks people want to hear.

Also, conservatives know that all the small government talk is just a con game for suckers, they want a big military police state, suspension of individual rights, and all the things that go with that, and this equates to big huge government.

Ron Paul is not a Republican but a libertarian. His ideas are far to radical. The Republicans aren't stupid they know that if he were the nominee and by some miracle he were to win he would have to get his half baked ideas through Congress. That isn't likely and so we continue more of the stagnation in Washington rather than progressing forward.

He's not that popular among Republicans at the moment, but he's quickly gaining momentum in the race.

This website may surprise a lot of people when they see how popular Ron Paul really is.

Also, if you go to his campaign website, keep an eye on the money he's raising, it's always going up.

Because he's not part of the corrupt Ripublicon establishment. Because he has democratic ideas, better yet, more accurate democratic ideas. Because he believes in the good old proverb , "Charity Starts at Home". Because his antics are not flashy. Because most Ripublicon's, (for all those dumb@asses, "Ripublicon" is purposely misspelled), are arrogant and live in denial believing they are "THE" perfect party and he had brought them back to Earth.
I'm not a Ripublicon, but I like this guy very much.

His basic platform isn't bad at all, extremely conservative and radically reformist, but HE is the problem, he doesn't have the discipline to effectively, in a presidential way, be the leader of his own movement. He's far too prone to saying outlandish things and that simply will not work.

Because he's against the war, which many of us support, and he can be way way out there on a few things. Plus sometimes when he speaks about what he would do in office, I'm not sure he has a firm grasp of what power the president actually has.

I think alot of his points are valid. He's hates gun control and is for tax cuts. I particularly like the idea about eliminating the IRS and implementing the Fair Tax, which would eliminate income taxes and have a national sales tax. But one thing that bugs me about him is the fact that he wants to go back to the Gold Standard. Do you really want the value of your money to be based on an arbitrary metal?

Some republicans are just like all the liberals. Close minded.

The smear campaign against him to call him a kook since all else has failed, even ignoring him.

The older generation get their information from the news and repeat what it says.
