Why do people in the ghetto think that have to act and behave in a destructive manner?

In NYC, the New York City Housing Authority buildings are absolute hellish!

Cheap rent does not mean destructive behavior or does it?

What is your view?

My honest opinion is that, some people who don't have to pay for property, don't appreciate it. Many times, they don't have to get up everyday to go to work to make money. It comes to them-so therefore, sometimes appreciation is lost. Add this to bad attitudes and surroundings and you get disaster. They have no understanding of the value, because it was not earned. Totally unacceptable and it is not an excuse, just a logical answer for people who lack class.

Although, I don't agree that the all the destructive mannered people reside in the ghetto.........

I personally hate low income neighborhoods, and not because of the residents living in them, but mostly because the landlord does not set high standards for his/her property. Most of these landlords do very little landscaping, they dont respond in a timely manner to residents who may have leakage or other problems in their apartments, they do not provide activities to the children, and pay very little attention to crimes that happen in their communities. The only time they come in the picture is when cops come in the picture. I came from a low income family, moved to several different homes. It's not a crime or a bad thing to come from a low income family, but I feel that a lot of the families that live in these conditions settle for what they have and do very little to move forward and achieve something. Their children are running in the streets, making noise outside other peoples apartments, they have no respect for their neighborhood and totally trash the whole place. The guys and girls stay outside their frontdoor late at night making out, behaving in a very low class manner and are extremely abnoxious. While I was busy working and in college so that I can get the heck out of that environment, most of my neighbours my age were fooling around with loser type guys who had no direction in their lives.
The parents in these neighborhoods are very neglectful. I've come so close to nearly hitting kids with my car because they just wouldn't stay away from the driveways, even when they're no more than 3 years of age. While these mothers are socializing with other clumsy mothers, their kids are running around making noise, mess and causing trouble.
My neighbours were fighting with some people every single day outside their apartment. I complained to the management and they did nothing about it. Then one day there was shooting and when cops got involved, thats when the management evicted these people.
People in low income families need to realize that this isn't life, this is charity which you didn't earn, but you just happen to receive because of your situation. There are people who are dying of hunger, have nowhere to live and will do anything to have a second meal for the day. You should appreciate what you have, but do not settle for it. This isn't lifestyle, this is just a backup while you prepare to stand on your own feet.
I'm glad I'm out of that shi* life and moved on. These poor kids deserve better and their parents need to realize that they are doing no justice by behaving in such low class, trashy manner.

People don't value what they didn't earn.
