Personally, its not my favorite name. But thats not what is important here. The important thing is that you and your wife love this name and want to give it to a person who will spend the rest of their life with it. If it has some meaning to it with your family, or history, or maybe you have even always wanted a child with the name "Persia" I think it is the perfect name.

Persia is the name of a place.
Portia, Monisha, Ayesha are some other names.

Give a child a name they would be proud of as an adult. What is cute as a child might be embarassing to them as an adult.. I dont think Persia is a fitting name, but I guess it would depend on where you are and your history.

You can name your daughter any name but remember she is the one that will suffer from the rest of her peers, if it is not a regular name.
I do not liked the name because it make me think people from orient (Muslim). Right now many think they are terrorist.

Regards and good luck in finding a nice name for your new born daughter.

I've known a child named Persia ... and in response to that guy who says "better than Iraq", Persia = Iran, not Iraq.

Well, what were you planning for a middle name? You have to remember that eventually she is going to grow up. Other people might make fun of her name, so I would re-think the name. Also, talk to your wife and if she has her heart set on that name, GOOD LUCK!!!!

I agree with the person that said, it sounds to much like a cat.If you go with it though, give her a common first name and put Persia in the middle .Then when she is older, she can decide which one she likes best.Good Luck

Hi, while the word Persia sounds very nice, exotic...if you know your history, you'd be naming your child after the old name for the country of Turkey (and other countries, as Persia was the name of the region where Turkey is situated)...so you might want to think of that you know?
It is a nice name, but you know, would I name my child say, Sumeria? I don't think I would. IMHO though, so please take it as such.

Isn't Persia a country? Anyway, won't she be teased? Be sure to give her an easy name like Marie or Ann for a middle name that she could use if she needs to.
