...a personal guilty pleasure of mine, you're talking about the outrageously funny disco parody, from 1978, and called "Thank God It's Friday"; actress Mews Small played Jackie, the dental/medical receptionist, who moonlights as a disco diva. The film also featured early performances by Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger.

...as I recall, The Bee Gees didn't appear in the film; however, The Commodores and Donna Summer were definitely in the film; in fact, Donna Summer won the Acadamy Award for Best Song, that year, for her Top 10 disco hit, "Last Dance"...

...anyways, check it out here!!!

Actually, you have two movies mixed up I think. The BeeGees were in "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (1978), which features the music of The Beatles. Also appearing in it are George Burns, Peter Frampton, Steve Martin, Aerosmith and a wide array of actors and singers/musicians. It's an extremely bizarre film, almost surrealistic at times.

One of the strangest moments is when Peter Frampton fights Steven Tyler as the BeeGees battle the rest of Aerosmith~and win! Aerosmith performs "Come Together".

"Thank God It's Friday" (1978) is about a disco owned by Jeff Goldblum. Among the others visiting are: Marya (Mews) Small as a dentist's receptionist~only one of the ensemble, not the focus; Debra Winger as a girl from the Midwest; Donna Summer as a girl hoping to become a diva; Terri Nunn (future lead singer in Berlin~"Take My Breath Away") and Valerie Landsburg as two girls hoping to win enough money for concert tickets; Chick Vennera, who has a fantastic time dancing on top of cars and, if I recall correctly, a phone booth as he tries to teach John Friedrich how to dance; Andrea Howard; and Ray Vitte. Also in the cast is Paul Jabara, who wrote the songs, including "Last Dance", the only disco song to win an Oscar; it also won the Golden Globe Award for best song. Jabara also wrote "It's Raining Men", which is used frequently in films, including "Bridget Jones's Diary". The Commodores (among them Lionel Richie) perform a couple of songs.
