First put XP on...and make sure it is working properly (you can have more than one OS on a computer at a time). Once you do this and you feel confident then go ahead and remove Vista.

It's not difficult, just time consuming.

This is no easy task. I have done it, but you need to Have a XP install CD and the Activation code. You need to locate the drivers for allthe hardware components and put them on something portable like a flash drive or burn a CD. Once you reload XP, you need to sytematically add drivers for everthing that is ot working. This process took me sevral hours but eventaully worked.

You need to make sure this does not void your warranty too. Some manufacturers are saying it will.

On my second laptop that came with Vista, I tooka different route. I change sthe interfaces and screens to look like XP. I then disabled all the vista nagging features. While it looks a little different, I now have it running Vista that acts like it is XP. This was much simpler than the reload.

If you are having problems witha specific application that will not run vista, then be prepared for a lot of roadblocks loading XP.

I didn't like Vista at first either but before you make the decision to dump it, try working with it for a couple of months. It has some trouble spots but it is the future.

Did you try to boot the system with the XP CD-rom and run setup. You can tell it to format the disk before installing the new operating system just to be sure nothing of the old operating system is remaining.

Hi. You will need a valid CD for WinXP. Format the hard drive then boot from the XP CD. It will walk you through.
