Excellent Question !!!---I have also asked that same question especially with respect to Obama. Some people refer to Obama as Black & other people refer to Obama as half-black but virtually NOBODY refers to Obama as half-white ??----- Being half-black is not a state of skin color. Being half-black is ethnicity or heritage. In these times of extreme political correctness; I sincerely believe that some people are actually more focused on & probably prouder of their black ethnicity or heritage than they are of their white ethnicity or heritage ??---To some people, the concept of Black Pride is considered to be acceptable & is encouraged whereas the concept of White Pride is considered to be unacceptable & is discouraged ???

My husband is mixed, white and black. I would never categorize him as being either or. He's both. His behavior is just like any man. I don't think he has to claim anything to anyone. But I guess to answer your question, it depends on his/her upbringing and what side of the family has more influence on him or her.

They cannot claim to be white because they do not look white at all. People will laugh at them for trying to be white.

I think back in the day they used to. I wouldn't blame them. It was hard then. My grandmother is Cherokee/Black/White but she could pass as a white woman. She did to get a good job but she also hated white people for some reason...lol. Go figure.

I'm neither and only claim to be human, anything else is like classifying people by eye color or shoe size.
