Is the silver kind any better in quality? Will it make your tone better or what? Or is the color just a personal preferance????

The darker the color of the trumpet the darker the sound. Also a silver trumpet has a brighter tone than a brass-plated and the brass-plated trumpet has a more mellow sound. So yes there is a difference depending on the color of the trumpet

The color is just personal preference. Most trumpets are gold-colored. If you want to blend in, get the brass. If you want to stand out, get the silver.

If both are plated, then should be same. If both are solid brass sheet and the silver is plated, then should be the same sound. If silver is solid silver sheet and brass is solid brass sheet, then may be different. Solid Silver Flutes are supposed to have a warmer sound than brass.

Seems like they always preferred silver, back in the day.

I suppose white goes with *any* color.
