It's very admirable of you to want to help your mom out but there are ways of doing that and also getting what you need, a college education. I would start by visiting with an academic advisor at a community college. He/she can help you work out a class schedule that will also let you work. This way, you can help your mom and also get through school. It will be tough, but it sounds like you are the type of person who can handle it. !

I would say your best advice is trying to find a university near where you live. I came from a very similar situation and in the state where I live there are many satelite campus around the state university, I spent my first two years there and I just transfered to the main campus for my last two years. Another option is also just to start out at a community college to get your general education classes done and transfer after that. I really understand how hard this but you can't chance your future because of the past , your mom wants more then that for you. This will be a hard transition for you both but as long as the two of you can see eye to eye on things it will all work out. Good Luck!

Hello,
Depending on where you live $15.60 a hour is good, or not.
it is nice of you and all to help out mom, but it is more important that you go to school.
Your mother has lived a long time and I am sure she can get by fine without you, not that she would want too.
Time is funny and it goes by real fast!! One day you are saying you are going to put it off just a little while, then it becomes two years then three....
Have you thought you might just be using your mom as a excuse not to go? Need to think of this too.
Go to school! Get out get a good job make your mother proud!!

The best thing you can do for her is go to college if that is what you want. Think of it from her view point and think of what you would want if you were the mother. Parents sacrifice for their children so that the children can have a better life. All they want from the children is make that dream come true. Debt is not the end of the world. Go to college.

You are fortunate that you have a loving and caring mom. she wants you to go to college because she doesn't want you to end like her earnign $15,60 an hour. It's good, ok. but she wants you to have a better and bright future. go to college and follow your mom's wishes.
