Northern Mexicao, not to mention California-GOLD- and they also accoplished their manifest destiny that way. Yea. I think that's about it, cuz the whole purpose of the war was for the Manifest destiny. Now that I think of it, They also got the SLAVE QUESTION induced by the new western territory. The south wanted to expand slavery and the North didn't want to South to increase slavery and California came in as a free state with the compromise of 1850 and the rest were on popular sovereignity and so it caused tension which led to sectionalism of the north and south and eventually the civil war.
so, the americans got :
1. more western land (their manifest destiny)
2. Slave tension/question
