Relax, remember the baby is still quite small and needs to be in a good position for a clear heartbeat. That being said, so long as you are not a high risk pregnancy (which if you were I'm sure the Doc would have penciled you in ASAP) when you go in for your appt. if you still can't hear it you can ask for an internal sonogram and that will let you see the baby and it's heart beating even if you can't hear it. Keep in mind it's not the most comfortable of things. The same thing happened to me with my first, we couldn't hear her heartbeat so my Doc (has a sonogram machine in her office) put me in the other room and we were able to see the heartbeat then sweetest of all things she (the baby) did what I swear was a little dance. I have pictures of her from then on through the rest of my appointments. I was about as far along as you if not a little further and she looked, for no better way of putting it, like a teddy ghram cookie but smaller. So breathe easy, take your vitamins, drink lots of water, eat your fruits and veggies, take it easy on the caffeine and steer clear of smoking and booze. From the "sound" of your anxiety you'll make a good Mom, P.S. don't ever be embarassed to ask your doctor ANY question you're even remotely curious about, and if your doc makes you feel like your asking a dumb question, get rid of them! your have every right to have your fears eased and your anxiety calmed. This is a very special time in your life try and enjoy it. Congratulations, Merry Christmas, May you and your child have a blessed life.

I saw my baby's heartbeat at my 7 week ultrasound and heard it at my 12 week 4 days mark at the Dr.s office with a doppler but it was hard to find cause the baby is still so small and down in my pelvis region but she did pick it up 2 different times but only briefly cause the baby was moving. So to the person who said the heart doesn't beat til 12 weeks you are so wrong...there is a heartbeat at 7 weeks for sure! Also, I am sure your baby is fine...if it bothers you that much why not call and see if there have been any cancellations and maybe you will be able to get in to see your dr. earlier.

No it's not a bad thing...as long as you've had other ob appointments and are taking prenatal vitamins and Folic acid. Hearing the HB is the only real way to know if everything is doing fine with the baby but even if something went wrong there isn't much you could do about it anyway. Just keep positive and let the doctor know if you have any problems.

If you haven't been to the doctor than how do you know you haven't heard the heartbeat? Do you have a doppler?
Most doctors won't listen until after 12 weeks anyway because there is a chance of not hearing it before then. Many women don't hear it until after that for many reasons including a tilted uterus.
The heartbeat starts to beat at about 6 weeks. Figured I clear that up.

I am also 13 weeks pregnant, ive got my next midwife appointment on jan 2nd and hopeing to hear my babies heartbeat then, u could always buy a heartbeat monitor if you dont want to wait to hear it, i dont personally have 1 but ive heard they can be a bit tricky to use.

Hahah don't worry. You can only here your babys heart beat at the docters when they do ultra sound. But since you haven't been to the docters yet then of course you won't be able to hear your babys heart beat. The only way to hear the babys heart beat is if you go to the docters and they use ultra sound to see the baby and hear its heart beat. You shouldn't worry unless you go to the docters and do the ultra sound but don't hear your babys heartbeat then you have a reason to worry. But with god by your side and my prayers with you, then you should be ok.

Don't worry too much as i didn't here my babies heartbeat until i was alillte over 14 weeks pregnant. most midwives wont let you here the heartbeat until after 14 weeks as its alitle hard to tell the difference between yours and babies. Good luck I'm sure baby is fine.

if your baby is growing and you're gaining weight then i wouldn't worry too much about being able to hear a heartbeat. you know your baby's growing.

You haven't been able to hear it because you haven't been to the doctor... not because there was something wrong.... I'm sure your baby is fine
