OK i have this sweet little 14 week old kitten (Max) and he's very playful and mischievous, just 10 minutes ago he brought my christmas tree crashing down, nothing got broken and he didn't get hurt, but this is the 3rd time it's happened now, is there anything i can do to stop him doing it again, like some kind of spray that stops him going near it...i know he loves the bawbles and lights but i am getting tired of putting it back together....please no nasty answers...it's becoming a pain in the bum...help?

i don't mind him playing with the bawbles, and sometimes he gets to the top and stays there for ages, he even fell aleep up there once lol...i think i will try the water method, sounds like the easiest way, he is such a sweet little thing and i would hate him to get hurt, the tree is huge, i think it's a certain bawble that attracts him so much because he goes for the same one all the time, and it's right at the top...lol...

spray him with a water spray Tats, one year our cat was fiddling about with the fairy lights and got electrocuted, she ran right up one side of the curtains along the wall and down the other side of the curtains, PMSL Spidercat!

We have the same problem an we have 3 cats all differen ages, 2 are under a year.
One of the best things we found was the get like a water gun or something (a small jet not a super soaker lol)
An when we goes near it squirt him a few time just cool/cold water.
Just be carful not to hit the light or socket that would be bad :P.
You may have to keep doing it but eventually hell get the message

There is something called indoor No that may help, and many cats hate the smell of citrus so some lemon or orange peel under the tree skirt or a citrus air freshener spray may help. Febreeze is also annoying to some cats.
Good Luck

Tatty if I had a £ everytime my cats have done this in the last couple of weeks.....I wouldn't be panicing about my Jan Credit Card Statement.
My 2 scale trees outside in the garden and I guess they just see the Christmas Tree as Indoor Entertainment that I've put up for them as it's cold outside !!

Try pepper or go to a pet store and get a spray that will keep your kittens from the fun of scaling the tree.

Oh bless, my cat loves christmas trees too! I guess if you hang those dried oranges that you can get as decs (you ever seen them? look a bit odd but smell good) then it'll put him off the tree. Or you could pick him up, hold him to your face level and say "no" then put him down, my cat hates it when I do that, or spray with water but some may see that as being mean.
You would've thought that after having one tree fall on him he'd learn!

Oh the naughty pussycat, my friends cat Ruby has done the same thing tons of times too, apart from trying to keep the cat in another room away from the tree I don't think you can do much, our golden retriever keeps going up to our tree and knocking some of the baubles off, they so mischievous.

Put him in the bathroom with some water and a toy or two to punish him. He's still young, he can learn. Let him out after about ten minutes. It seems cruel, but I had three naughty kittens and it worked every time.
After you let him out, he will most likely do it again. So put him in the bathroom again, and continue this process until he learns.
It sounds SO mean, but it worked.
Tell your kitty that I say hi!
Happy Holidays, and good luck

You probably need a sturdier base. My cat does the same thing, but the base is very wide so the tree only shakes a bit. Try taping down the base a bit better if it's a small tree, or putting weights around it.

My cats like to play around our tree too, but they havent knocked it down yet. They love the tree for some reason. Anyways, I say maybe put a little fence or something up around the tree. Try something like that.

I know there are many different sprays that keep cats away, you can always try one of those. Or you could put something up to block your cat from getting to it. Good luck. Have a merry Christmas, regardless of whether or not you have a tree!
