When ever I hear a woman refer to her husband as her "hubby" it just drives me up the wall. I don't know why... I guess it just sounds too much like, "tubby." Therefore I imagine the womn's husband as some fat, drunken, red neck, white trash couch potato, sitting on the sofa, drinking bear, watching tv, and occasionally grunting.
I guess that would be ok if you really think nothing of your husband, but otherwise it's not very flattering.
It's just a silly, random pet peeve I have. Does this word, by chance, annoy the crap out of anyone else?

What a narrow minded view of people. Based on the use of one word you have the family catagorized as trash. And yet you are more concerned with the lack of ability to edit, based on a misspelled word instead of the inane question you have posted. To say that to use this word would show that someone thinks nothing of their husband and is unflattering only because in your narrow mind you relate hubby with tubby and that jumps from tubby to white trash says more about you then the woman who uses this pet name for her husband. What do you call your "husband" oh yeah thats right, which one. one of the exes or the convict who you are waiting for to get out of prison.
See I assume that everyone who doesn't like the name hubby and makes the user white trash is a bitter woman who has had at least 1 failed marriage and is a prison pen pal. Why do I think this, I have no logical reason just like your "question" lacks logic or reason.

I use it as an endearment and when said or even typed it is implied with love.I don't use it as a generalization which is what you're using it as.When said or typed with affection it gives the person hearing it or reading it an impression of a well loved husband.
Obviously you've never had it spoken to you in such a way or you've never noticed the affection or tone used when it is said or typed.SOmetimes you have to look beyond what you see generally and feel it....
Btw my hubby likes it when I refer to him as hubby because I say it with adoration as does he when he calls me "wife" or "wifey".Pet names in marriages are common get over it:)

It doesn't bother me that much but I hate when people say "hubby" all the time. Like my "hubby" did this and my "hubby" did that. It does get annoying after a while. Usually I say "My husband, Michael" and then from then on I just say 'Michael". People should know who I'm talking about without my having to say "hubby."

Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, I don't see anything wrong whatsoever, with refering to my husband as "hubby". He doesn't mind a bit.. actually he refers to himself as that, more so than saying "husband". I think it's cute..
I do think your generalization of what the word "means" is absolutely obsurd.. but like I said, you're entitled to your opinion. :)
Some like it.. some don't. So, I guess... to each their own!

I'll go one step furthur. I can't stand commercials, tv shows and movies that make the guys and husbands look like idiots for trying to do the dimplest things, like we are trying it for the first time. My wife is my wife. If I'm going to say anything other than that, it's usually "hon".

No not at all I have been married over 8yrs and feel fine with my wife or I myself even use the term hubby in communication.
I think your question is a little weird I would rather be called hubby then have a wife call me as shole. My pet peeve is when people ask idiotic questions.

I hate it, too. What man wants to be referred to as "hubby." I imagine the woman who uses this term as the female version of your description of the "hubby." Good lord. So not attractive.
