hahaha you could ask that about almost any Lupe song (anyone know for sure what Daydreaming is about?) thats half the reason we love lupe

I think though that streets on fire is somewhat related to a commercialized mindset that is infecting/ or taking over the streets. It is easiest to see in the second verse where he's talking about the dream of the masters kind of infecting or being pushed on everyone and especially taking hold in the troubled conciousnesses with no moral compass. I think (and I could be completely wrong) that Lupe is rapping about the system which emphasizes these things that are designed to keep the "streets" in the dark and out of control. The first verse kinda gives the feeling that Lupe is talking about crack which some think was a mechanism by rich white people to oppress the streets, in this case though, the crack is a state of mind or a set of values that serves the same purpose

I like the guy's answer above me (lol)....I love that song though Matthew Santos killed the chorus.....
