I want to make candles for christmas presents but I don't want to go buy the big chunks of wax from the store. I thought that there was a recipe for making wax but I'm not sure. If anyone can give me any tips I would be very thankful!

you will have to buy wax in some form unless you re-cycle candles you have already used. do a search for candle wax for some ideas.

have fun, but be careful.

I am not familiar where to buy BUT you can freeze the article of clothing either by putting it directly in the freezer or if it's too big, making an Icepack that covers the glob, then while the glob is still cold it will easily chip away. You can also use peanut butter, but this method is rather messy and time consuming Wax removal: You will need an iron and preferably old WHITE towel. Heat the iron on medium, place a section of the towel over the wax and Iron over the spot. The heated wax will absorb into the towel. Just repeat the process untill the wax is gone.

At this late date, I think you are better off buying the wax from the store. Otherwise, I don't know how you would do it. Maybe for next year you can start saving old candles and crayons so you will have a supply.

At this late date it would be better to buy some cheap candles and decorate them to give as gifts. If you have a Everything for a Dollar or a Dollar Tree or even a Dollar store you can get them a lot cheaper than you can think about making them. You can bling them up with different jewels or stones. Don't forget to tell her to remove them before burning.

Wax is wax. You can make candles from treated lard, but I don't think you want to get into that and people who had to do it in the past wanted to get wax as soon as they could afford it. Paraffin for canning comes in one pound blocks at many (but not all as I discovered) grocery stores.

melt old candle wax in a heavy pan. You will still need to buy the wick. Pour into egg cups to make tea lights.
