I made this hat for my friend and she really appreciates unique wrapping. I'm going to give it to her for Christmas, but how can I wrap it?

Is it the kind of hat she's going to want to keep in a box? If so, I'd suggest wrapping it in a rather durable container. Got an old coffee can? If you can find a large coffee can that the hat will fit into, wash and dry it well, then decorate it. Cover it or paint it, use colors your friend likes, and have fun. Carefully pack the hat in crushed tissue paper, add the can's lid, and wrap it up.

If it's a hat that can be safely squunched or crushed, roll it up and stick it into an empty wrapping paper tube. Cut the tube just a bit longer than the hat. Cut the paper long enough to leave nice tails on both sides, so you can wrap it up like a giant candy or 'firecracker.'

If you have a balloon the right shape, blow it up to the size of her head, tie the neck tight, write Merry Christmas across it and-or draw a face and put the hat on, then wrap it. The balloon will lose air with time, so the closer to giving the better.
If you and she like the absurd, get a cantalope or a small watermellon and use it like the balloon. This will make a light object - the hat - really heavy in the packaging. You could do the same thing with a plastic bag of nuts in the shell, like walnuts or pecans, or a lot of dried or fresh fruit like apples and oranges.

You can always put it in a box, or a christmas bag.
