My grandmother had breast cancer but didn't die from it, however on my husband's side of the family he lost an aunt and two cousins. His aunt had lung cancer (she didn't smoke either and wasn't around second hand smoke) so it came as even more of a surprise but when we started looking into the family history we found out that several great-great relatives also had lung cancer. His cousin Dylan had a tumor on his heart that was cancerous and the doctor's couldn't remove it because it had grown into the heart tissue and Dylan would have died during surgery, so instead he lived as long as he could surrounded by family and friends. His cousin Alison died of breast cancer, I'm not exactly sure about the circumstances with that one because she died when my husband and I were little kids.

Yes, my granny died of breast/bone cancer and while she was dying she had emergency gall bladder surgery. My uncle died 3 years ago at the age of 46 from colon cancer. It hurt something awful to lose both of these people in my family.

I have been *very* lucky in that I don't think I have lost any family members to cancer in my lifetime....I believe my grandfather on my father's side died of cancer of the pancreas and lymph nodes....but he passed on a long time before I was born.

yes. My aunt died of ovarian cancer when she was 52. I was about 17. She never had children, which does increase your odds of getting female cancer. They gave her about a year to live after she was diagnosed. She lived for 3 more years.
RIP Judith Irene...I love you!!

It`s hard to say, the old folks weren`t forthcoming to us kids ,at that time. My mom had a double mastectomy, but then died of a stroke before she could come home from the hospital.
