Yes, it is not only possible, but relatively common. A woman is fertile immediately after giving birth, but, generally she is not put on any birth control until her six week postpartum check up. The reason for this is because most women bleed up to six weeks postpartum, and since some forms of new birth control can cause bleeding, the practitioner wants to be able to separate postpartum bleeding from bc bleeding. (at least that is what I was told after having my first baby). The term "Irish twins" is used for sibling who are born within 12 months of one another. My grandma had 12 children, and numbers 2 and 3 were born 11 months apart, and numbers 10 and 11 were born 10 months apart.

ME!!! Delivered April 07 and am now 30 weeks...didn't mean for it to happen so quick but there were circumstances there that preventing us from thinking clearly. I was actually just AT 6 weeks though. It's hard if you are...I mean REALLY hard on your body and on your life. I've been pregnant for a grand total of 66 weeks since Aug 2006 and I'm ready to get this over with SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes its possible. I met a lady in the OB's office who had gone to her 6 week check, only to be told she was pregnant again. She took it very well. Her babies ended up being 8 months apart. I still see her from time to time. She got her tubes tied after her "6 week suprise" was born!

Yep. You're not supposed to have sex during that time, but people do. Make sure you use protection. One lady I know thought she would be fine and she was pregnant when she went back for her 6 week checkup!!! I can't even imagine getting pregnant that soon after being pregnant!

Yes it is very possible!! They say you are actually the most fertile right after giving birth. Your suppose to wait that 6 weeks though...until you get the ok from your doc to go ahead and resume sexual activities so as not to hurt anything!
