It depends on the operating system, but assuming that you are on Windows XP, you go to C:\Program Files, and then look for the program name or software company folder. Another way is to right click on the shortcut to start your program and go to properties. It should show you where the shortcut is pointing.

On Windows, Find the shortcut either in the Start menu, Desktop or Quick Launch of the program you want to find the directory. Then Right-Click it, go to the properties tab, then click "Find Target". It will open the programs directory. Once in you can place the file.

using winapi function GetCurrentDirectory(LPCSTR); that will return the current directory .
