I created an imaginary transgender-friendly country where everyone can choose to live as a man or as a woman simply by presenting as their gender of choice--regardless of how masculine or feminine they look. So even someone who looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger can live as a woman if he is so inclined.

Any person can live as their gender of choice without physically transitioning. The catch is 1) changing one's body through hormones and/or surgery is frowned upon, and 2) male and female are the only genders recognized, so you must pick one.

If there were such a country in the real world, would you choose to live there instead of transitioning in your own country? If you have already transitioned, would you have preferred to live there instead of transitioning in your own country?

You have got to be kidding! I'm a very happy older woman now and your dream world sounds like a sort of TG hell to me.
added: because I realize others will not probably get my point, your perfect little world is extremely transsexual phobic.....and you made a point of that. TGs and transsexuals have almost nothing in common and that is my argument with the use of the word transgender as inclusive of both groups. You have demonstrated better than I ever could the gulf between the two.

Probably either Canada or South Africa (or the whole of Africa, really, but Africa isn't a country, it's a continent). At least they are the countries that are most open about gay marriage. Africa is extremely for gay rights, too. And there seem to be a lot of gays in Sweden, although I'm not sure if they're gay-friendly.

Yes I would and it would be easier as the ones I have met have been more open and friendly than most people. Its the narrow minded people that think that they have all the answers that make it hard tocome out and be yourself. most of the TG people are just looking for happiness and dont push there belief on anyone.Someplace in life they have realized that they were ment to be differant and the brave oneshave stepped up and made the change. I think that ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE H APPY ..

The male/female dichotomy is something that I hate with a burning passion, so no.

Granted, I do not consider myself a "transgender," merely one who lacks gender. I'm quite happy with my female body (though not the social stigma attached to it), and so this would be nice if not for the male/female dichotomy.

I would probably stay in my own country. However, I see nothing wrong with people who are trans gendered. It's quite freaky at first, but it's fine I guess.

I have no problem with that, some of them are beautiful women. In Europe they are more open, but the US is coming around. Many Latin and asian countries are open to this .

No not really I mean what fun would there be in wearing ladies clothes if it was accepted by everyone. Nobody would be surprised when they saw you
