Yes, in a couple a ways. For one, our economy is way above average, therefore enabling Americans to survive, and giving even the less fortunate welfare, low income housing, and even luxuries. Moreover, as a result of our economy, we're more spoiled in general, therefore not taking jobs that are considered low in their opinion and inflating our egos based on the fact that the U.S are one of the richest countries in the world.

It is a problem without solution.
Can a culture be higher than an other ?
Usually depending on their political ideas, people would answer yes or no to that question.
For me, in some points Americans are over the top, in some others, they are lower than the top, in some others they are light-years away from the top.

I think Americans have an overblown sense of entitlement stemming from an inflated collective ego. There is a sense that the world functions for our sake and that our interests are of a higher priority than everyone else's.

The more you gloat in self pride, the less concerned you become of other man's woes.This holds for many of them, although many of them have the ability to assimilate ideas and see what is on the other side of the prison wall.

Hedonism is a large part of the American psyche in general. Look at the statistics concerning scholastic aptitude and you may begin to see a correlation.
