YES, I believe Chris Simon should be forced out of hockey. With 7 suspensions under his belt, that's a very strong indication that he's a danger to anyone who plays against him. He can't control his temper. I don't care if he's been tested for substance abuse or not; it's his TEMPER that flares and someone is going to either be very seriously hurt by him or WORSE. Why must the NHL wait until a player is killed before they do something? I'd love to see the law step in and charge these guys for assault causing bodily harm or whatever. They are NOT above the law. Chris Simon shouldn't have gotten as far as 7 suspensions. This is totally ridiculous.

He didnt slash him in the face, he got him across the chest, if he got him in the face, he wouldnt have finished the game. I just want to see what happens, when some big name player, does something, how the league will handle discipline with him. Pronger, took 2 cheapshots, in the playoffs, and got a game for each one. He will be back, and should be, if anyone wil take him back. If hapf the league wasnt a bunch of sissies, guys wouldnt be doing these things, they would drop the gloves like they used to, and settle things.

1) The CBA prevents any player from being banned
2) Chris Simon has been part of the NHL's substance abuse program for years, he gets tested more regularly as a result, and he's tested clean for quite some time.

Simon got the message this time. He has taken a paid leave of absence from the Islanders, and will decide to retire once he talks things over with his family.

I think he should, or maybe have another chance after conseling. He is a great guy off ice,but really dangerous on ice. If he doesn't stop after being conseled he should be kicked out. No he doesn't have a drug and alcohol problem, that's not true.

Yup time for a forced retirement. (and not because of substance abuse its because of his lack of respect for other players)

(and if you're worried about the precedent that that might set then maybe its a good one - 7 suspensions and counting is simply ridiculous - are you listening Mr Pronger?)

i dont think kicked out but i think he should have the choice to retire on his own but i think if he does he will be persuaded by management and others for him to do so after he comes back and he might just want to finish the season too though

Yes it should be banned for life, he has been suspended 8 times. For God sake he he tried to chop Jarkko Ruutu leg off with his skate blade. He is one of the players who gives hockey a bad name.
