Contrary to what many people say, people on the autistic spectrum are perfectly capable of having friends and keeping friendships. That your autistic friend selected you for a friend is quite special since many on the spectrum are careful with the number of friends they have and how close they keep them.

But like all friendships, there are periods during them when friends become less close than they were...and there are times when they become close again.

Also, from an autistic persepctive, a friendship can be one in which two people get toghether every day...or once a year...and still maintmain the level of closeness they always had.

It is good that this friend is still appealing to you. I would suggest letting your friend have the distance he needs, but keep being nice to him and offering opportunities for togetherness. Perhaps you will grow closer again...or perhaps this is just a natural parting of the ways.

Only time and patience will tell.

Does he have full autism or a milder version known as Asperger's? Because if had autism it is unlikely that you guys talked everyday... he might have Asperger's and maybe is depressed now or something... talk to his mom... and get the whole scoop.... maybe there is more to it than you thought.

FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO LEFT RUDE IGNORANT COMMENTS SAYING FIND A NORMAL FRIEND OR TO NOT BE FRIENDS WITH HIM. YOU GUYS ARE SO STUPID.
how can you say something like that.

but anyways i think you should understand him and STILL be his friend. you guys have a past together.
