Chocolate easily wins this as Christmas didn't appear on a calendar until 1582.
See: Pope Gregory XIII whom also changed our Calendar from the Julian Calendar. Many countries didn't accept this 'new' calendar until the early 1900's. Another piece of trivia is that computer programs that used the Julian Calendar for financial dates didn't crash in the Y2K crisis. Only programs that used the Gregorian Calendar.

Christmas is a very new idea. Chocolate is a plant from the Mother Earth of far older vintage.

This isn't a chicken and the egg thing here. The cacoa has been cultivated for three millennia. The earlist documented use is around 1100 BC, which is clearyl before the birth of Christ. Also as other people noted Christmas did not become a holiday until much later. On another note 12/25 is not the real birthday of Jesus but a day church leaders chose to celebrate Christmas to compete with the pagan holiday Yule

Chocolate clearly came first. Jesus being born didn't change plants that grew on the earth (cocoa beans). Also Christmas didn't start being celebrated until later, it was just Jesus' birthday.

Chocolate. clearly. it's an Aztec invention from long before 0AD, and even longer before anyone started celebrating Christmas.

Although there were suspiciously similar religious festivals around before Christmas... maybe even before chocolate.
