Right click the My Computer icon wherever you find it, then go to Properties. Alternatively hold down Windows while pressing the Pause|Break key top right.
Click the Computer Name tab.
Click the Change... button, where you can change the name of the PC and the workgroup name.

Press the Windows key plus the pause/break key symultanuously, and the System Information dialog box will appear. Click on Computer Name tab. Locate "To rename this computer, click Change", then click the Change button.
At the bottom of this page you will see a radial dial button in front of Workgroup, and a text box under that. Type the new Workgroup name into this text box, and click OK, then OK again.
The Workgroup name is changed.
Another method of opening System Info is via Control Panel, or via the Run dialog box.
In the Run dialog box type: msinfo32 and then hit Enter or click on OK, and System Info will open.
In Control Panel, simply click on System Info icon.
In Vista, simply begin typing msinfo32 in the Search box, then click on the msinfo32 name in the list which appears.
