After all Kennedy had boxed them in with that `man on the moon` quote and the Yanks were getting a doing in Vietnam. Also thy had to stick one on the Ruskies. Does it seem likely that the moon sequences were shot in a stupio set up in Area 51?

If they didn't land on the Moon, how is it that universities and research institutions around the world can still bounce laser signals off the laser reflectors left on the lunar surface by the manned missions?
Edit 24/12/07: to those who think the flag is 'blowing in the wind' on the Moon, and this therefore means it was faked...
I watched the 1969 Moon landing, and Patrick Moore in the live commentary on the BBC described the flag as having been made deliberately to look at though it was fluttering. This was done by making the flag of metalised material so that it didn't hang 'straight', and gave the effect of fluttering. If you look at the flag, you will see that there is a cross bar running through the top edge of the flag from which it is suspended.
Note also that in the motion shots of the astronauts walking around the flag THE FLAG IS NOT MOVING OR FLUTTERING but is 'frozen' in its synthetic fluttering appearance. If the flag had been in a real breeze, it would have been moving too. However, the fluttering effect is ENTIRELY STATIC, even when things around it are in motion. Exactly as would be expected on the Moon, and exactly the opposite of what would happen on the Earth.
One can, of course, understand the disappointment of the hoax theorists, on finding that what they think was evidence of the 'hoax' turns out to disprove it....

Considering that today's mobile phone has more technology than was available at that time, it does seem incredible. I think that they had only just designed the first pocket calculators. An amazing achievement.

I don't think it was faked. Too many people would know the truth and it would eventually get out.
But I want to know why they've never gone back. Did they see something there?

You asked a really dumb question.... so here's a dumb answer. We actually landed on Neptune then went to pluto. Area 51 was actually reserved for the young Uk People who like to create their own history based on lies and stupid *** questions. I guess its people like you who started the whole "Santa Clause" story.. Sorry but check your facts before asking stupid questions.. Yes it was staged, but in a Hollywood film studio... look it up, everything is on the net dude! By the way smarty pants, learn how to spell while you are at it!
