Cussword were first used by Anglo-Saxons but at the time they were not bad, then the French took over them and banned English. So then after they were free from the French and could speak English again those certain words remained bad,

What's funny is the different cultural ideas of cuss words.
The hand gestures of the Italians to think of one.
It seems a person has to be raised in the culture to appreciate the cuss words.
Bloody seems to be the Brits word of choice.

What makes the made up word "carthflump" not a bad word?

The word "vulgaris" meaning language of the people goes back centuries....thus came the term "vulgarity". It only been in more recent times that words that had been around for centuries started becomg "offensive" to some....before that they were just words that people used.

I guess that is determined by when did people start finding certain words, sounds or phrases offensive, perhaps when people began having religious beliefs.........I guess when there was enough language that you could say something really offensive and be understood.
