The answers you got were right but NOBODY told you how to get to "best print quality"

Here it is.step by step:

(1) Hit start
(2) Hit control panel
(3) Hit "printers and faxes"
(4)Hit your own printer, e.g. HP or Canon etc
(5)Hit "printer"
(6) Hit "printing preferences"
(7) On "print quality". notice 4 options )High, Standard, Draft
(8) Click on "highest"

Now click apply and Ok and get out of that screen, go back to the document that you are printing and this time you will notice the letter or essay will print SLOWER but blacker and higher quality.

IF, however, it does NOT then you must clean your print head.

The method is the same steps as above but instead of hitting "printer", hit "properties" and then "maintenance" and follow the instructions there, choosing "clean" or "heavy cleaning" etc.

And if this does not work you will have to take your cartridges out of your printer and remove the grunge carefully with a twin tip dipped in alcohol.

Hope these tips work. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Not all printers are capable of outputting the ink exactly as you want them, regardless of which options you select. If possible, try editing the source file using a photo imaging or paint program to increase the contrast, or decrease the brightness, or both (some software even has the capability of selecting individual colors, and modifying them as you want them, but, it's a very difficult process, as many similar colors may need to be altered, as well, in order for the pic to look its best).

Set your "Print-Quality" to highest setting; the higher the Print-Quality setting, the more ink the printer will use.
