Sure kids sure have the same rights - the right to work, the right to pay bills, the right to pay taxes, the right to go to jail when you commit a crime (prison - not juvenile hall), the right to be sued, the right to have your credit messed up if you stop paying bills, the right to be drafted etc.
With "rights" comes "responsibility". Children/kids do not have the maturity to handle the responsibility. Therefore, they don't get the rights. But hey - at 18 you get most of the rights and the responsibilities to go with them.
Sorry....you gotta wait to grow up - just like the rest of us did.

Children view the World a lot different than an adult.
During the latter time the responsibility of the parents teaching the child right from wrong is essential.
The above understanding will provide the child a good sense for what he/she is up against.
Sadly, today's parents are not like the past.
Generally, the child is tossed into day-care since both parents are required to work to survive.
A lot of divorce cases cause havoc with a child because the stess and continual confrontation between the parents is noticed by the child.
All we can do is pray.

Yes,, it does kind of suck. Kids DO have some rights. As you get older and gain experience and maturity, you also gain the abiltity to make better and more informed decisions, which is why you get more rights at different ages. I know it doesnt sound "fair", but think of some of the things your friends have done. Do you believe they always made the best decision that could have been made? A lot of times, we have to make mistakes to see the better way of doing things. Mom and Dad are there to try to make sure you dont do something which would truly harm you until you can do this on your own. I hope this helps you.

No I do not. Kids do not have the faculties to evaluate and properly make judgements in a quick manner.
All kids have rights. If you are talking about letting a 9 year old drive a car I am not at all for that. I learned to drive a age 9 but that was because I lived in the country and my family had 10 acres we could drive around on and not hurt a darn thing.

When I was 16 I thought I knew everything --- at 37 I realize I didn't know squat! It's all part of the maturing process, and the reason we oversee kids is because we are protecting them from making stupid decisions that can impact them for the rest of their lives.
You are going to see as you grow older that the reason many things were done the way they were done when you were younger were truly done with your best interest in mind. I used to think all adults were idiots who didn't get it......guess what they not only "got it" they'd been there, bought the T-shirt, wore it out, and bought a new one called welcome to adulthood.
Trust me -- somewhere around 20-25 you are going to have an "a-ha" moment when you realize that adults weren't out to make your life miserable, they were in fact trying to make your life better.

Children have more rights than you realize, but one thing to remember, most have an adult or 2 that is responsible for their actions. Until you are mature enough to realize the ramification of those actions, you can not appreciate the consequences they hold. If you are a kid, have as much good clean fun while it lasts.

Yes, it is very fair. Kids are not smart enough to do the things adults do. Most teens are barley able to do so.
I guarantee that in 15 years you will agree with me, merry Christmas

I agree with you. I think that kids should have some rights. Like I think that they should be able to vote on things like school levy's. Then all the school levy's would pass. When our generation rules the population then we should screw the old people AKA. a certian president. and treat the kids fairly. If kids are the future how come the gov. is not spending any money on public schools. They should realize we should be properely educated or we are gonna screw them over.

As soon as they grow up and become adults, they get all the benefits - and responsibilities as adults do.
We all went through it.

It is not fair, there are some kids that are smarter and more ethical than some adults, some adults are actually ruining the world with war and politics.
