I recently moved to NYC and had to get a roommate to be able to afford an apartment. He's been getting on my nerves

I went through several roommates before I realized I would prefer to make sacrifices than ever to have anyone lviing with me again. I now budget for my rent and just do without some things in order to presvere my privacy, sanity and peace of mind.

The apartments there are higher, I can understand your having to get a room mate. Maybe, the two of you can sit down, and talk and make some type of ground rules. If, he is getting on your nerves, that bad then maybe it is time for that room mate to vacant.

I hate having a roommate unless they are a good friend. I had to share a place with my sister (younger) and she drove me crazy!!! She always borrowed my stuff and wanted me to go places and do stuff with her. I wouldnt want a roommate unless it was a good friend like my friends Raksha, Madison, and Kallie.
