Let's say a person who is important to you,
Is behaving coldly towards you,
Would you, treat "like with like" and treat that person coldly as well?
Or would you on the other hand continue to be nice and open to that person?

What's your answer? I don't know what's mine.

Ignore the reasons why the person is behaving coldly towards you. The focus of my question is on what is the best choice I can make to take care of myself and make myself happy in this situation?

Are you the same type of person as this other person? If not then why act like this person does if youre a totally different type of personality? Be yourself and never try to be someone youre not and youll never go wrong. Besides youd probably have to lower your self to this other persons level to be like them and is that really worth it? Be the bigger person in a situation like this and you just might change a person for the better. Think about it. Besides there are enough negative people in the world today and we dont need anymore. Happy Holidays

If an importanat person to be is being cold and bitchy...I'll let him or her know and straight up too. We can't just let someone we treasure skip the consequences just because they're our friend. I guess I'll give em priority and go along a bit to find out what's wrong but I'll try to crack em sooner or later, I cant leave them there to linger.

It may just be a temporary problem that's causing the coldness, based on what's currently going on in you friend's world, and it's distracting them. They probably don't mean to take it out on you, but it's got them acting this way. Just act as normal as you can for the time being. If they don't come around soon, then question them as to what's bugging them.

well if the person is important to me then yeah i would treat them back nicely.
i don't mean to sound like a loser or sidekick ....
but i really don't get the point if i treat them coldly it will get both sides annoyed.

well ...if that person is really important ... i believe u shd ask him ..whats up with him/her ! giving tit for tat isint a solution in any case...coz if u behave in the manner a person does then there is no difference between u and that person ...
there must be somefink troubling that person ... there can be many reasons and u shd try to be in his/her shoes !

It depends on whether I care about why they were being cold.

If I don't care how they're acting, I'm not going to spend the time to figure it out.

depends on if you've annoyed them or you don't know the cause.

I used to have a girlfriend who sulked but wouldn't tell me what was up or what I did wrong? I'd leave her to it.. let the dust settle and in time she'd tell me exactly what was up.

but normally if you feel you've done nothing wrong . let them stew a bit and things normally calm down.
