I am a father, and I would like to receive a massage. Even a chair massage would be nice. This is also something I probably would not hint at, but would really enjoy if one of my kids gave me.
A typical chair massage would cost about $30.

My dad is impossible to buy for anymore...he has everything he wants and no more cologne or clothes needed. My sis was asking him for me and he said "anything"...she listed off 5 or 6 different things and said, "what do i need with that?" or "no, i have that" to everything...she looked at him and said "anything, dad? you just shot down every item i listed!"
My solution? I bought him a bag of chocolates (the fancy kind) and a steering wheel cover (he sold his truck and his cover went with it). Maybe it sounds lame but it's something he's mentioned several times and he likes his chocolates once in a while! Surely there is something along these lines that your dad has mentioned....?
Merry Christmas

Maybe just something homemade like a poem or card or something. Maybe and IPOD, MP3, camera, tools, if he's into sports maybe an autographed card or something by his favorite baseball player football player etc. Gift certificate to favorite store, maybe just some coupons to do extra chores around the house. Good Luck.

A magazine about his favourite sport.
New handkerchiefs. Some shampoo to clean his car.
A key-holder with a little light attached.
A new tie. Some tool he might use, a screwdriver, a pair of pincers, a rolled tape-measure, just have a look in the iron-trade. A book, if he likes to read. Deodorant.
:-))

If he is into tools, a home depot or lowe's card would be good...or some type of gift certificate. I am sure there is a card out there for the place he likes to shop. If not you can get him a gas card or a visa gift card from the bank.

hand made presents are the best, they have sentimental value, why not get some pictures of yourself when you were growing up and make him a collage then put them in a frame, he will love it...it will also bring back some happy memories for him, all you will need is the price of a large picture frame which won't cost much....good luck...

buy him really good coffee from a specialty store (or tea if he likes that better)
or make a gift receipt for a special meal made by you! maybe you can team up with a sibling and offer to cook a fancy diner for both your parents. my parents seem to enjoy it a lot whenever I do that.

My day is a bit older than I, so he has just about anything he could possibly need.
He told us several years ago not to get him anything he couldn't eat.
So, a gift card to a restaurant they both like- Cracker Barrel!
