Why Catholic? Only 25% of Americans are Catholic, the rest are Protestants and evangelicals. With all of these denominations America has a high number of Christians (85%) but it's a secular country.

The United States of America is a secular country with the freedom of religion.

Surprisingly it is only in a non-religious secular country that true freedom of religion can exist.

With love in Christ.

The U.S. is a secular democracy. We have a distinct division of church and state. However, Christianity has historically been the predominant religion in the U.S., and has always had a strong influence on law, policy and government.

The U.S. is definitely not a "Catholic" country. However, statistically, Christianity, of which Catholicism is a part, is the predominant religious affiliation.

The breakdown currently is as follows:

Christian 76.5%
Nonreligious/Secular 13.2%
Judaism 1.3%
Islam 0.5%
Buddhism 0.5%
Agnostic 0.5%
Atheist 0.4%
Hinduism 0.4%
Other 7.0%

America is becoming increasingly secular, but when America arose it was a protestant nation. The Catholic church however has a way of weaving itself into a nation or country and then trying to dominate it after.

I think ir is becoming a secular country. Look at the way even Christ's name is cut of of Christmas. It is now "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas".

Neither. We are definitely not Catholic, but we are not totally secular either. Right-wing Christianity has way too much influence on how our government is run!
