Two thoughts. The 'media' has pretty well dropped the war, or occupation or whatever it is in Iraq, or at best they all agree that the violence is down by 50%. That's still a lot, but never mind...unless you're one of the 50% that managed to get wasted or to lose an essential body part. But Brit's lttle sister being knocked up by a young man 2 1/2 years older....I dunno! They're talking about tossin' the dad into the clink. I don't know about you guys but isn't it possible that these kids are in love. Almost a half century ago my late wife and I, before we were married,( she was 15 and I was 18) spent a lot of time in the sack. People didn't like it, but nobody called the cops. Today... today, I'd be a sex offender. Any thoughts?

There is some site about the myth of adolescence, wish I could recall it off-hand, but if people can find it they should check it out. I keep bringing up one point concerning this myth which you sort of tread on here. It has only been three to four generations (30 years = 1 generation) that adolescence has really existed. For centuries on end girls were wooed at around 9 to 10 years old and marrying as young as 12. Helen of Troy, proclaimed to have such beauty to launch a thousand ships, was 12 years of age when kidnapped by Paris. Alice in Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland was 10 and was being told to put away child things to prepare for adulthood, as was Dorthy in the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. That only a century has passed and people think such things to be sick seems extremely strange. A 16 year old a century ago, and in all of the centuries before that, would have been considered to be an adult in good standing. People treating them as though they were still children would have been considered an insult.

Edit: I think that kids instinctively realize that it goes against nature to be a child for so long a period of time and this is why they rebel against it.

Only in the rag publications, then there used to be the movie magazines that kept up with hollywood gossip. Let's see; Glamour, seveteen, star? I can not recall the names, but this was the outlet to those that chose to keep up with it, like a living soap opera. Is there really any ligitimate news out there? May via shortwave radio?

Until everybody stops watching the celebrity crap, it will continue to be news because it makes money for the corporation. I make it a point to immediately change the channel, but there are thousands of people who sit in rapt fascination and continue to buy the yellow sheets papers at the grocery store. The media will give us what we want.

I dont know the laws of the state, or situation - age and all. I do know that in my state, if she 16 when they were sleeping together, this man has broken no laws. In Minnesota, age of consent is 16. The only time a 16/17 is a victim of statutory rape in my state is if the other party is an adult and in a position of authority over that juvenile (teacher, clergy, doctor, shrink, coach, boss)...

Nope
I think the day Brittany and company get off the media radar will not be soon enough.

I rather look at real role models for the youth than these two.

This family deserves more air time than Brittany will ever dream of:

Absolutely not! I'm sick of all the celebrity news. I wish the media would give this much attention to how our soldiers are being mistreated, and to abused children and to children who need to be adopted!

It's too hard to find REAL news; even on CNN...

That's just too young to have babies. There is added physical risk for both the mother and child for being pregnant that young. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
