I think your friend was talking about Intel's Core 2 Duo mobile which is Intel's newest and most powerful CPU. Intel's Core 2 Duo comes in 2 flavors, one for desktops and another for laptops. Get the Intel Core 2 Duo mobile since it is specifically designed for laptops. Benefits include decrease power usage so your battery last longer and decrease heat generated by the CPU. You probably want to stay clearof Intel's Celeron M CPU's. Celeron is used in low end budget computers. They are not nearly as powerful as their Core 2 Duo cousins.

I think the name of the processor you forgot could be either,
Intel Celeron M or
Intel Centrino Duo.

But the best of all is Intel Pentium
thanks.

PC magazine recently devoted a couple of issues to "How to Build Your Own Computer". They have also rated products and parts of a computer. Maybe your library has back copies.

Go for AMD if you want value for money!
Intel are more expensive and you gain little more for your money.
