What are you're views on premarital sex?

Now dont make your answer so black and white like "Oh god says no,its a horrible sin and you'll burn in hell"
Im looking for open minded answers!
This a sorta exsperiment; here are the grounds

The couple is is 18 or older,
They have been dating for over a year.
They are in love (or claim to be)
marriage is in their future
both familys of the couple know of their sexually activity
Both familys are supportive
they are safe and responsable
they are mognogamis

i dont think it is anyones buisness what people do in their private life but for my personal viewpoint i have to wonder why they waited so long-------smile and enjoy the holidays

My view is the same as most honest people will tell you, it happens, it isn't going to stop, and the days of saving ones virtue for marriage, well that's just an old wives tale from back when dragons spit fire!

I did it when I was young (19) and that was quite a few years ago (don't want to give away my age), my girlfriend at that time was 17, so it's nothing new, hell, they are starting even younger now days, but look how many children are having children, there are 16 year olds raising children and grandmothers at the age of 30.

It's just a part of society that has changed and will continue to do so.

This is where I disagree. You are both adults. Why does ANYONE besides the 2 of you need to know about your sexual activity? This is a very personal matter between the two of you.

Humans, by nature, are not monogamous. This is also true of the majority of animal species, and the few that are monogamous are not strictly so.

There are severals thing that complicates human sexuality as we tend to attach a great deal of emotion to sex and child rearing is extremely expensive and a long commitment.

I have nothing against pre-marital sex as long as the couple is responsible (i.e. use appropriate forms of birth control) and emotionally mature enough to handle it.

As an aside, in many occasions "cheating" in a relationship is taken as a much worse thing than it is and thus causes more pain and problems than it should. This is really highly dependant on the situation, of course.

People are going to do what they want anyway, so as long as they are going about their business the right way I don't have a problem with it.......People should just be aware of STDs and pregnancy and make sure to take precautions and be prepared of the consequences of a sexual relationship..

Engaging in sexual intercourse, is healthy normal behavior. The constraints you list, are no more necessary, then a state of marriage is, for it to be healthy normal behavior. However, the very young, the very immature, should not rush into a sexual relationship, given the emotional and physical risks.
