east or west kaspersky is the best
u can download a trial version of kaspersky from the following link:
http://dnl-pr1.kaspersky-labs.com/trial/registered/IALH5CIN3C6BRF8JWO9X/kav7.0.0.125en.exe
it's a 30-day trial version

u'll be so fascinated by its features that u'd definitely purchase it.
good luck.

:)

i took a look at other answers and saw that 1 or 2 have specified McAfee.
i just wanted to tell that NEVER EVER purchase McAfee as i've tried it and came to know that it didn't detect hundreds of viruses in my system which kaspersky detected and disinfected later.

That's like asking which car is better: Ford, GM or Chrysler.

All you will get are other people's biased opinions.

Any independent, expert and unbiased review is the ONLY way to go. Google for: Anti-virus review

For example, start here:

BTW, in a few months, every rating will change again.

Hi,

Nortan runs so much background process hence it will be so heavy for the system.
I Believe Mcafee antivirus is best and if you are using genuine version of Windows XP then you can order Quick heal anti virus for 199/- for one year subscription, this anti virus is also useful and give better results...
