The drugs I take every day of my life from the simple aspirin to the beta-blockers and the drug used to stop an Angina attack turning into a heart attack were all tested on animals at some point! Should I stop taking them and die then!
I don't think so, who would look after my pets if I wasn't here? Who would explain to my family I put an animals life before my own?
Let me ask, What would you do if there were Rats in your house? Would you feed them and keep them alive and well or would you like most of the 'animal rights extremists' be calling in an exterminator?
I love animals but as a CARE-Worker I thank them for the sacrifices they have made so that my 'patients' can live!!!!!!! I thank them for providing me with food and those I can help protect from unnecessary death for purely human vanity (fur bearers and dancing bears etc) I willingly will!

This is a very interesting question.
It depends on the situation, i mean, what do you have to live for?
If you feel very strongly about animal testing and you have a family and want to see your children grow up then even the most loving person would surely take the drug?
But if you have nothing left to give and nothing to live for then is there really a need for this drug? You could not waste it and let someone who has more left of their life to have it?
I think in this situation the most loving thing to do would be to take the drug, the animal has already suffered for this technology and to leave it would be all the suffering gone to vain.
But that is just my opinion.

Every drug has been tested on animals, otherwise it wouldn't be allowed to be sold. I would take whichever drug I needed to save my life, and I do consider myself a true animal lover. I hope that in this day and age we can move away from testing drugs on animals, but in the past it hasn't been possible. I also believe tests should only be conducted under carefully controlled conditions to minimise the suffering of the animals involved - a lot of the things you see advertised by animal charities are completely unacceptable, but not all testing is like this.
I'm a veterinary nurse so I spend all my time trying to better the welfare of pets, but I'd be very angry if a member of my family let themselves die rather than use a drug. I'm also not a vegetarian.

Hello,
I respect the critter world. I would not go out of my way to kill something for nothing.
Critters are just that, then there are humans. Sometimes death is necessary for our survival.
Many people are ignorant of the fact of where there food, cosmetics (make up and other such things), the chemicals in there home, clothing, and what and where there medicine has been tested on.
People have no problem taking the same medication that killed/maimed a lot of healthy people (and these people did not offer to test the drugs) so why would most rational human beings have a problem living from a medicine that had been tested on a critter?
As I said though, I would not go out of my way to kill or maim a critter.

I would take the drug. Just about any medical procedure or medication was obtained by testing on animals or dissecting animals..
Anyone who says they wouldn't probably just doesn't do the research to find out for sure, "If I don't know, it's okay" or doesn't have a current health concern that requires medication. Even the higher-ups in PETA use medication tested on and even derived from animals under the reasoning that they need to be alive to help animals.. That's just screwed up.. Trying to ban research and then USING the results of it is criminal! I actually think anyone against it should be banned by law from using modern medicine..
My pets also use medicine that was tested on animals..
If I had a rare disease, I would be part of studies to discover more about it. A lot of the times, things like hip replacements are studied on animals that need them. Certain diseases and hereditary ailments are studied on those that already have them..

Animal testing doesnt necessarily have to be harmful to the animals.
There are ways to do it humanely.
Id take the drug regardless though.
Hopefully it was tested without harming the animal.
Edit
I have a question for you...........
Would you be concerned about medical breakthroughs from stem cell research knowing that they use aborted fetuses to do that research?
Edit
Ok......... so youd take a drug or have a medical procedure done that was perfected by using dead babies?
Whats that say about you?
And by the way.........
This man DOES have an opinion on abortion
Edit
Its murder
Using animals humanely to test products is one thing... but its entirely different when you need aborted embryos ( where stem cells come from) to do your "research"....... thats going too far.

Would you ever have the conviction to spell out the word "to", rather than substituting "2"? Not much of a time-saver, really.
I am a true animal lover, and feel closer to my pets than I do to most people. But I'd have no problem taking a drug necessary to save my life no matter who or what it had been tested on.
I wouldn't let them test it on one of my pets though. They'd get a boot in their butt if they tried. They could test it on me first. Or you. I don't care. But not my furkids.
Got no problem with stem cell research either. Most stem cells are taken from alternate sources now anyway, not from aborted fetuses.

There ARE people who have the conviction not to take such drugs, just as there are people who have the conviction to watch their children die whilst with-holding permissin for blood transfusions.
One wonders if the animal kingdom goes around thanking such people for their thoughtfulness.
Life is about priorities, and difficult choices. To allow oneself or one's family to suffer and die for such a 'principle' seems, at the very least, misguided. You're a long time dead. In five hundred years time, which animals will rejoice in your sacrifice?

I love animals, but also see the need for animal testing (for medical purposes) and support it, so I would use the drug.

I wouldn't take a drug UNLESS it was tested on animals. Otherwise - how would I know if it worked or not?
Besides, there is a place for all of God's creatures - between the mashed potatoes and buttered rolls.
