Both, or neither. It could be just the fabric or the way it's constructed. I just bought a couple from Fredericks, the cups fit great but the band is a few sizes too big and mine sqeak as well. But I've also had this happen with bands that fit me, so it's most likely just the types of fabric.

There's an easier way to tell if your bra fits properly. If you're spilling out of the cup, either the tops of sides you need a bigger cup. If the cup is wrinkling you need a smaller cup. If the band is standing away from the center of your cleavage you either need a smaller band or bigger cups, or both. If you can fit more than one finger under the center front and more than 2 under the center back, the band is too big. Tighten or buy the next size down, one cup size up to compensate for the size change (34B = 32C). If you take your bra off and notice red marks where the wires and band were, loosen the band or buy the next band up, cup size down (34B = 36A). If the band is perfectly level all around you but you have fat rolls on your back or sides, bigger band size.

Also, it's not from a "crappy bra" as others are saying. Because I've bought bras that were a little more expensive than Fredericks and VS...they still squeaked. Most fabrics used on bras have some degree of synthetic material in them. Including the casing which the wire is in. When metal rubs against something synthetic it usually makes a squeaky noise. Bras are not made of 100% cotton and nothing else.

Probably too big. Mine used to do that too.
I suggest investing in a few nice bras. It makes a world of difference.

Not fitting right. Buy some better quality ones and get fitted properly. Carry some wd 40 for those squeaky situations.
