Not a valid comparison...the electric chair is intended to kill someone by design: the tazer is intended to incapacitate and immobilize.
While mistakes occur and some few die from being tazered,no one walks away from the chair.

Yes very much so. I would rather see a criminal who is not obeying an order from a cop or attacking a cop get tased than shot. Whether that person dies because of it or not isn't my concern. My concern is with the safety of the officer, the innocent people in the area and then the criminal. Bullets once they have left the gun don't come back and even cops miss their target sometimes. would you want to be on the retrieving end of that bullet with your family by your side because the cop didn't
have a taser? I don't! tasers protect people and save lives more than they harm them. Also if your so against tasers instead of wasting time on YA, why don't you find a more effective way to neutralize a person without use of deadly force. If you find one that is safer and more effective not only will you be rich but you'll be a hero in your own little mind.

Whats the option? Oh, I got it! Lets allow the cops to use their real guns more often. That'll cut way down on court costs, and improve their marksmanship at the same time! Very economical. BTW- The electric chair is not cruel and unusual. What IS cruel and unusual is what these savages did to their victims to land on death row in the first place. And if you are fighting hard enough, or being enough of an a**hole that the cop uses the taser, well, you reap what you sow.

No the electric chair, the gas chamber, hanging, none of them are cruel. Cruel is the fact that these convicted killers are living off our tax money. We pay for them to watch tv exercise and get an education! I had to struggle to go to school & pay bills but they spend 20 years on death row, write a book, & get so famous that the same people that convicted them of the crime want them out because they've "changed" The only thing cruel about the death penality is that it is put to use so infrequently that it's not a deterent anymore.

Yes most people consider the chair cruel as it is not a guaranteed quick death. Tasers are a bad idea and because they are new and viewed as harmless (which they are not) cops are over using them.

yes... it's not intentionally killing them - it does not exist for that purpose. Also, they are trying to use tasers so that guns don't have to be used to enforce and I'm pretty sure that the guns killed more people than the tasers are.

No, the use of tasers is way out of line and needs to be stopped, unless it is totally necessary - not just because the
"user" wants to do it.......

The electric chair is alot more comfortable than they gave to their victims. They should be torchured first by whatever means they gave to their victims then put in the chair.

The tasers are handy little tools for cops who wish to shoot but can't do so. Seems they are trigger happy with these little toys.
