Hello Everyone,
Well I am almost 26 weeks pregnant and my husband and I have been trying t save up so that I do not have to work for the 8 weeks of maternity leave but everytime that we save something comes up and even now our bills are piling up. Does anyone have any ideas that I ccan make money by staying at home on maternity leave. Hu husband cant work due to his class overload and the schedule that he is on. Him and I both want to give out future daughter the the best life and beginning that we can but we do not want to go into debt when she is born. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What country do you live in? Is this in the western world? You don't get paid maternity leave by either the government or your company?

In most western countries it is 6 months to 1 year. It's probably not too late. You could try quickly moving to a developed nation where the government has programs to pay for maternity leave.

Not really sure what kind of job you have, but if you have benefits such as paid time off, and short term disability, these can provide some cash while you're off. Most STD plans cover maternity for a few weeks anyway (I think mine covered 4 weeks at 60% of my pay). You're lucky, at this time of year most employers have the "open enrollment" time so you can add STD if you don't have it already. Hopefully you've also been saving up your PTO to use to continue to receive paychecks. You should apply for WIC through your local health department, it's based on income, so you may or may not qualify. In my state it also covers while you are pregnant. It gives you things such as milk, and cheese to help insure that you are eating right. It also rolls over to the baby when she is born for formula and age appropriate things like juice, cereal, and milk.

Look for welfare/ temporary cash assistance for your state on the internet. Apply for WIC. Your husband is going to have to step up now that ya'll have a baby on the way and get a job, even if it is part time. I'm 36 wks pregnant working from home taking customer service calls. I stopped working when I was 35 wks due to constant pain in the pelvic pain and my husband is supporting me. But I'm helping out with the money I'm making working from home. If you want to make a little income, try http://www.ratracerebellion.com/job_postings.htm. This is where I found my work at home job. Feel free to email me if you need anymore help. Good luck!

sadly not everyone gets paid maternity leave. If you are employed now, talk to your employer and your doctor about getting disability for the time you are out. It will not be a huge amount, but any is help. I did that when I had my son- mind you, the check is small! ($200. per week). I know your husband is in school- but he may have to get a part time gig to allow you to stay home and recuperate.

Dosent your employer supply benifits for pregnant workers?
if not wow!
my mother was paid during her maternitity leave.
But, if not I recomend mabey working from home.Dabble in free lance.Mabey sell a few things that you dont need on Ebay.Or you could find a job that dosent put much stress on you and the new baby.Like mabey being a tellemarketer;with that job you could possible do your job from home.
I really hope some of this helped
and good luck with the new baby!
god bless!
