I'm puzzled,why doesn't she write her songs? Madonna,Mariah Carey,Delta Goodrem,Christina Aguilera,Shania Twain and Aretha Franklin,Beyonce etc all had a hand in writing their songs,but why doesn't Celine Dion?

Maybe she's not comfortable with it....I'm a singer too(but of corse, not nearly as good as Celine) and I write songs but I've never sang them to anyone. There're just too personal.
She's famous. She's gone through a lot. I bet she's written lots of songs but is a little embarassed to get so close and personal with her audience...

She doesn't write any songs because she doesn't need to... she just receives songs from amazing composers such as David Foster and Carole King...
Anyway, let me tell you that Taking chances is a cover (I don't remember who wrote it) and also Alone is a cover from the band Heart, but I think Céline's version's way much better.
Also, I wanted to tell you that Madonna does write her songs, for example, Mother and Father (included in the 2003's album American life) is about her mother (who passed away when she was 5) and her relationship with her father since then.
But even though Céline doesn't write her songs, I think she have some kind of hand, for example, A new day has come, she said in an interview that this song was about her son who was born one or two years before the song was released

With chops like hers, there's no need to write her own songs. Besides, it gives her an opportunity to allow other artists to shine through her music.

Many singers, including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Shania Twain, and George Strait, never wrote a song. She also is French Canadian, and English isn't her first language, but its been her meal ticket to success. I'm not sure she's completely comfortable in it, when it comes to putting down her personal thoughts and experiences. I mean, I certainly couldn't write a song in French!

Celine has actually co-written three songs: "Ce N'etait Qu'un Reve", "Tout Pres Du Bonheur" (written for her step-son-in-law Marc Dupre, Celine does backing vocals on the song), and "Don't Save It All For Christmas Day".
She's a great singer. Not everyone can be both a singer and a songwriter. You get lucky enough to have one of those tallents... you've have to be doubly lucky to have both!

none of those people you named writes their own music, they might have a "hand" in it, just like Celine Dion I am sure, but she is a PERFORMER, not a COMPOSER.....
