My daughter is 7 mos. old and has been strictly breast fed. We have tried over and over to get her to take a bottle or take formula. She has refused different nipples, bottles, sip cups, different formulas. Now she plays around and barely eats when breastfeeding...our Dr. was not very supportive and said try again, the next step is putting her in the hospital if she doesn't gain more weight. Does anyone have any more ideas to try? I'd really be grateful.

If she's not breast feeding all that often, and wants to play, maybe you should try introducing more baby foods or table foods. Try giving her meals before you nurse her. As for the bottle maybe she doesnt like the taste of formula because shes used to the breast milk, for a while try to pump some breast milk and put it in a bottle. If that helps her take the bottle better she might get used to drinking from it then you can switch her over to the formula

contact a lactation specialist for help and advice.

formula is made for all babies, and good for none.
